The building that most recently housed the Mach’s Gut Beer Barn and Mach’s Gut Candle Barn on Route 61 is in the process of being demolished.
Work to raze the building started on Tuesday and continued Wednesday in North Manheim Township. At the end of the work day on Wednesday, only a pile of rubble and the businesses’ signs remained.
Earlier this month, both shops just north of Cressona Mall closed their doors for good.
The building was sold in late-May for $500,000, according to the Schuylkill County Parcel Viewer. It was sold by Scott M. Koerbler to MBC Carlisle, LP, of Schuylkill Haven.
The same company purchased the former Days Inn hotel property in late-May for $600,000.

All properties have now been demolished and it appears a redevelopment of that area is in the works.
Prior to being home to Mach’s Gut businesses, that particular building was the former location of Denney Electric Supply Co., which relocated about a mile south on Route 61.
