A Schuylkill County man punched a Trooper in the chest and had to be stunned with a Taser as troopers arrested him inside a District Court in Tamaqua on Tuesday morning, State Police say.
Bradley McAloose, 28, of Tamaqua, now faces a felony aggravated assault charge in that case, four days after State Police say he kicked and punched his way through the front door of a Rush Township home while the woman inside called 9-1-1.
Troopers with State Police-Frackville were at the office of Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer for scheduled court around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday when they saw McAloose seated in the court lobby for a preliminary hearing. McAloose had an active arrest warrant for a Protection From Abuse order violation, according to police.
Troopers ordered McAloose to stand up and put his hands behind his back, and told him he was under arrest on the warrant. As troopers tried to handcuff him, McAloose turned toward them, struck one Trooper in the chest with a closed fist and tried to flee, police say.
Troopers took McAloose to the ground, where police say he continued to disobey commands, scream and yell, and pull his hands away from troopers. McAloose was Tased and eventually taken into custody, police say.
Tamaqua EMS was summoned to evaluate McAloose. He continued to scream and yell inside the District Court building after being taken into custody, and continued to try to flee and pull away from troopers as he was escorted to an ambulance to be taken to a hospital for evaluation, police say.
The Trooper who was struck told investigators that McAloose broke another Trooper’s grip and hit him in the chest with a closed fist, causing him to temporarily lose his breath.
In that case, McAloose is charged with felony aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, two counts of disorderly conduct and harassment.
The arrest came four days after a reported disturbance on Ben Titus Rd. in Rush Township.
Troopers were dispatched to the home around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31. A woman there told police she saw McAloose approach her door in an aggressive manner and then begin kicking and punching her front door to make entry while screaming at her. She told police she immediately contacted State Police because she was afraid for her life, and that she has a PFA order against McAloose stemming from previous assaultive behavior.
A man at the home told police he recorded McAloose kicking and punching the front door. He told police he was injured on his hand, elbow, and forehead when McAloose punched through the front door window glass.
Damage to the front door of the home and glass scattered across the living room floor was noted. Police say they viewed a video showing McAloose causing damage while screaming in an aggressive manner.
Charges in that case, filed Aug. 3, include three counts of simple assault, criminal mischief, harassment, and a summary vehicle code violation.
McAloose was arraigned on both sets of charges Tuesday before Bayer. Bail was set at $50,000 in the District Court case and 10% of $10,000 in the Rush Township case. He was unable to post bail and committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
Preliminary hearings in both cases are Sept. 1 before Bayer.
