Police have a warrant for the arrest of a Schuylkill County man after he allegedly held a handgun to a woman’s face and threatened to shoot her Wednesday evening at a home in Norwegian Township.
A subsequent search of the home uncovered 21 fraudulent Pennsylvania inspection stickers, a 9mm pistol with no serial number, suspected methamphetamine, and thousands of rounds of ammo, police say.
State Police say they were called at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday to a residence on New St. for a report of a woman being threatened with a firearm. Police say they found the victim standing on the shoulder of the road.
The woman told police she had returned to the home, where she’d been living with Thomas Kelly, 40, for about two years, to get her belongings.
When she entered the kitchen, Kelly began yelling that she was not welcome, police say. The woman told police she let Kelly know that she was just gathering her things when he grabbed a black 9mm handgun from the top of the refrigerator and racked the slide and ejecting a round.
The victim told police Kelly placed the gun against the top of her forehead, slid it down her face, and placed it under her chin.
Kelly then allegedly told the woman, “I’ll shoot you in the f***ing face right now.”
The woman told police she let Kelly know she had no problem leaving, and when he turned around with the gun, she ran out the door. Kelly then allegedly walked outside yelling for his dog, which had run out of the residence behind the woman.
The woman ran away and flagged down a passing motorist to use their cell phone to call 9-1-1.
Police were initially unable to make contact with Kelly at the residence. The woman told police that she and Kelly had used drugs in the home earlier that day, prompting police to obtain a search warrant.
During the search, police say they found the loaded, black 9mm semi-automatic pistol on top of a gun cabinet in the basement.
Police also recovered one unspent 9mm round on the kitchen floor, another unspent 9mm round on the living room floor, 1,929 9mm rounds, and 469 spent 9mm casings inside the residence.
Along with the fraudulent inspection stickers and 46 number stickers found in a kitchen cabinet, police say they seized a clear baggie containing suspected methamphetamine from the kitchen, an orange smoking pipe containing suspected drug residue from an upstairs bedroom, and a clear baggie containing an unknown white powder from an upstairs bedroom.
Kelly is wanted on a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge along with numerous misdemeanor counts for making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous counts related to the inspection stickers.
