A Schuylkill County woman has been charged with attempted homicide after she allegedly shot a man early Wednesday morning.
State Police say they were called toa home on Codorus Rd. in Ryan Township at about 4 a.m. Wednesday after Schuylkill County emergency dispatchers got a 9-1-1 hang-up call. On the call, a man reportedly told dispatchers, “She shot me in the arm and she won’t give me the gun back.”
As they arrived on the scene, Troopers say a man exited the residence and said he’d been shot in the arm by Alycia Yost, 36, of Barnesville, whom he lived with at this residence. Yost remained inside and police say she barricaded herself in a second-floor bedroom.
The gunshot victim was rushed to a local hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.
Police say they were able to establish communications with Yost while she remained holed up inside the home. She reportedly told police she would not exit and refused to surrender. State Police’s Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and Major Case team were activated.
Eventually, Yost surrendered and was taken into custody and then transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. A warrant for her arrest was signed by Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on Wednesday.
Yost will be arraigned on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault with extreme indifference, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
