A Schuylkill County woman faces domestic violence charges after police say they responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call on March 4 and found a man fleeing an apartment with a bleeding nose.
Keylanny Veliz, 21, of Shenandoah, was charged with simple assault and harassment after police in the borough say they were dispatched to the 200 block of W. Oak St. at aabout 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, police say they observed the victim running from his apartment, saying he needed to leave the premises.
The victim told police that he and Veliz, his girlfriend, had an argument in their bedroom regarding a conversation she discovered on his phone with another female. Police say they victim was bleeding from his nose as they were speaking to him.
When questioned by police about the injury, the victim reportedly said, “she was hitting me.”
He later said, “She beat the (bleep) out of me.”
Officers then made contact with Veliz on the third floor of the home. Veliz said she lived at the address with her boyfriend, the victim. Veliz reportedly told police the argument lasted 20 minutes and was not physical in nature.
Police did not observe any injuries on Veliz. When asked about the 9-1-1 hang-up call, Veliz reportedly claimed her phone does that sometimes.
Veliz was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker later that morning and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
