Schuylkill County Man Allegedly Held Knife to Woman’s Throat During Her and Her Husband’s Domestic Dispute

Metz facing assault, threats charges

A Schuylkill County man is facing charges after police say he held a hunting knife to a woman’s face and assaulted her and her husband during their domestic dispute.

Christopher Metz, 27, of Mahanoy Plane, was charged by State Police following the alleged incident that occurred on Jan. 26 at a residence on Washington St. in Middleport.

Police say they interviewed a husband and wife at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East Emergency Room around 2:30 p.m. on the 26th. The couple reported that they were assaulted earlier that day, around noon, while they were having a domestic dispute.

The female victim reportedly told police she was involved in a heated verbal altercation with her husband when Metz appeared in her bedroom doorway holding a large, 8-inch hunting knife.

She told police Metz raised the knife to her face, placing it inches below her nose, and threatened to cut her. Metz allegedly then shoved the woman to the ground.

The male victim reportedly told investigators that he witnessed these events. He further reported that during the altercation, Metz and a juvenile male shoved, kicked, and punched him.

The victims were able to provide police with the registration number of a Jeep Grand Cherokee the suspect arrived in.

Police say they located the vehicle the following morning, Jan. 27, outside a residence on Main St. in Mahanoy Plane. While at the scene, police made contact with a relative of the defendant, who eventually confirmed Metz’s identity.

About 15 minutes later, Metz contacted police by phone. He initially stated he was not at the Washington St. residence on the day of the alleged assault.

Police say that Metz eventually admitted to briefly being at the residence to retrieve food from his grandmother. However, Metz denied that any altercation occurred and told troopers he doesn’t know the victims.

Metz has been charged with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and making terroristic threats as well as summary counts of harassment. He’s been ordered to appear at a preliminary hearing before Senior Magisterial District Judge Edward Lewis on March 31.
