Schuylkill County Man Accused of Stabbing Another Man Tuesday

Jimenez-Nieves held on $150K bail

A Schuylkill County man was jailed after police say he stabbed another man three times with a kitchen knife.

Police in Tamaqua say they were called to a home on Pine St. at about 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 10) for a stabbing.

At the scene, police were met by a woman who said her brother, Robert Jimenez-Nieves, 32, of Gilberton, stabbed her boyfriend. She said Jimenez-Nieves used a 7-inch gold kitchen knife and stuck it twice in the back of the victim and then cut him on the front of his left leg.

Jimenez-Nieves then fled out the back of the house and into his blue Dodge Ram pickup.

Tamaqua Police put out a BOLO alert to local police departments for Jimenez-Nieves and his vehicle.

Just before 6 p.m., Jimenez-Nieves’ vehicle was spotted and stopped by police in West Penn Township, traveling south on Route 309. Jimenez-Nieves was taken into custody.

At St. Luke’s Hospital in Coaldale, Tamaqua Police say they spoke with the victim of the alleged stabbing. He had two puncture wounds in his back, one in the upper right quadrant and another in the middle of the back near his spine. There was also an approximate 10-centimeter laceration near his left knee.

Jimenez-Nieves was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel on Tuesday night and charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, and reckless endangerment.

Lengel set bail at $150,000 cash and remanded Jimenez-Nieves to Schuylkill County Prison.
