Schuylkill County Woman Jailed After Allegedly Struck Man with Barbecue Fork and Slashed His Tire

Hake jailed over the weekend

A Schuylkill County woman was jailed over the weekend after police say she struck a man with a barbecue fork and slashed a tire on his vehicle.

State Police say they were called to a home on Macomb St. in New Philadelphia at about 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 7 for a reported altercation.

The call came from a third-party. Police later learned that the alleged victim had his iPhone smashed during the altercation he was reporting and used Siri to make contact with the third party, who then phoned police.

At the scene, police say they spoke with the alleged victim of the altercation, which reportedly started over relationship issues. He reportedly told police that a physical altercation between he and Tiara Hake, 30, of New Philadelphia, got physical when she grabbed a small kitchen knife and slashed the front passenger tire on his vehicle.

Hake also allegedly grabbed the victim’s phone and threw it into the street, rendering it nearly inoperable.

Also during the altercation, the victim reportedly told police, Hake had a barbecue fork in her hand and struck him in the abdomen with it.

Police say they observed a small puncture mark on the victim’s abdomen to corroborate that claim.

Hake was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and criminal mischief, as well as a summary count of harassment.

Tarantelli set bail at $10,000 cash. Bond was posted on Feb. 9.

A preliminary hearing before Senior Magisterial District Judge Edward Lewis in Port Carbon is scheduled for Feb. 17.
