National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for Schuylkill County.
The Extreme Cold Warning goes into effect at 4 a.m. Saturday and expires at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Dangerously cold Wind Chill levels of -20 are possible during this time.
The Cold Weather Advisory issued earlier this morning is now cancelled, as is the Extreme Cold Watch issued Thursday night.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday.
During that time, steady winds out of the northwest will register 15-25 mph. Gusts are expected to reach 50 mph.
The winds along with bitterly cold temperatures throughout the day on Saturday and overnight into Sunday could result in frostbite for anyone exposed to the air for about 30 minutes.
Power outages are possible as a result of the strong winds expected this weekend.
Residents should consider having a back-up plan in place in the event of a power outage during the extreme cold.
