Schuylkill County Woman Allegedly Kicked Officers Numerous Times, Spit in One’s Face and Tried to Bite

Cole held on $25K bail

A Schuylkill County woman was jailed over the weekend after she allegedly kicked multiple police officers as well as spit on one.

Police in Pottsville say they were called to 7-11 at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday for a reported argument between a man and woman. Officers say they searched the area and found the caller – identified as 43-year-old Octavia Cole, of Pottsville – at N. George and E. Market streets.

Cole, police say, was stumbling in the street and had slurred speech. Through their investigation, police say they learned that Cole was at a friend’s house on E. Market St. until she was asked to leave due to how drunk she was and because she was allegedly destroying property there.

As police spoke with Cole, they say she became belligerent and was yelling in the street. Police say they told Cole that she was being arrested for public drunkenness.

While trying to place Cole in the back of their patrol vehicle, police say Cole kicked two officers multiple times and was very uncooperative.

After being taken to City Hall, Cole allegedly kicked an officer as she was getting out of the patrol vehicle. As she was being taken down the stairs at City Hall toward the holding cells, Cole alleged kicked an officer again and then spit in an officer’s face.

Cole was being placed into a holding cell when she once again kicked and struck an officer and attempted to bite him.

Police have charged Cole with a felony count of assault of a law enforcement officer, two summary counts of harassment, and summary counts of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

She was arraigned on those charges before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker who set bail at $25,000 cash and remanded her to Schuylkill County Prison.
