Grocery Chains, Liquor Stores Closed Sunday in Schuylkill County

Stores expect to reopen on Monday

Most grocery and all liquor stores in Schuylkill County will be closed on Sunday due to the impending winter storm.

A foot or more of snow (and possibly some sleet) is likely going to fall on Schuylkill County on Sunday.

So, if you didn’t get your milk and bread (and panic bananas), you’ll likely have to wait until Monday, at the earliest, to get to the store again.

Weis Markets says it is closing stores chain-wide on Sunday. Stores will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday.

Boyer’s Food Markets announced all its stores will be closed on Sunday and will reopen as early as possible on Monday.

Redner’s Warehouse Markets says it is closing stores on Sunday, too. The company says it will assess the outcome of the storm and if it’s able, open stores on Monday at 8 a.m.

There has been no announcement from GIANT as to whether its stores will be open on Sunday. Coal Region Canary has reached out to a spokesperson hoping to get a response.

Attempts to reach Walmart in Saint Clair by phone were fruitless.

However, The Farm Store in downtown Pottsville says on its Facebook page that it was planning to stay open this weekend, “Snow or shine.”

In addition to the numerous grocery stores, all Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores statewide will be closed on Sunday.

Smaller stores may remain open on Sunday. Check with your neighborhood stores on your own to see if they’re open before venturing out in the winter weather.
