Canary Rescue Crew: Annalee is One of Hillside’s Longest-Tenured Residents

She’s been waiting 5 years for her forever home.

Imagine spending your entire young adult life waiting for life to truly begin.

For Annalee, this isn’t imaginary, it is her reality. This beautiful six-year-old has spent the last five years at the Hillside SPCA. She arrived as a puppy and has watched seasons change and years pass from behind a kennel gate.

She and her sister are currently the longest-tenured residents at the shelter, and it is time for that streak to end.

Annalee hasn’t lost her playful spirit. She absolutely adores stuffy toys. She walks beautifully on a leash and is ready to be a loyal walking companion for someone who enjoys a steady pace and fresh air.

Because she has spent so much time in a shelter environment, Annalee craves a specific type of stability. She needs a mature, adult-only home where she doesn’t have to navigate the unpredictability of children.

She seeks a calm leader who can offer her patience and structure. While she is selective, she has done well with male dogs in the past and could potentially thrive with a canine brother to show her the ropes of home life.

Five years is long enough to wait for a soft bed and a quiet home. Annalee is ready to leave the shelter behind and finally start the life she was meant to have.
