COLD WEATHER ADVISORY Issued for Schuylkill County

Not only will Schuylkill County residents likely be dealing with a significant snowfall this weekend, it’s also going to be bitterly cold, too.

National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory that goes into effect at 10 p.m. Friday and expires at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Very cold wind chill factors down to -10 are expected.

Hypothermia could result from any prolonged exposure to air this cold, NWS warns.

The Cold Weather Advisory is also in place for Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties.

A significant snowstorm is expected to impact Schuylkill County Saturday night through Monday afternoon. A Winter Storm Watch is also in place during that time.

Although no advisories are currently in place, cold air isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

According to the latest 7-day forecast for Pottsville, high temps will only be in the teens through Tuesday with overnight lows in the single digits each night. Lows on Monday night will dip to 3 degrees and on Tuesday night to 5 degrees.
