Schuylkill County Man Allegedly Threatened to Stab Wife’s Boss

Miller facing misdemeanor charges

A Schuylkill County man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly threatened to go to his wife’s workplace and stab her boss.

Ryan Miller, 33, of Ashland, was located by troopers in Gordon shortly after the threats were reported on Jan. 8, according to State Police.

According to court documents, the alleged incident began with a dispute over childcare.

Troopers say they were dispatched to the Onvo travel plaza on Keystone Blvd. in Cass Township at approximately 7:32 a.m.

Miller’s wife reportedly contacted the barracks to report that her husband was on his way to the plaza to cause a scene and stab her boss.

Upon arrival, police say they interviewed the employer, who stated he had been made aware of the threats. The employer also reported that Miller had called the store earlier, acting erratic and demanding to speak to his wife when she was not yet at the location.

Police say the situation escalated while the wife was being driven to work by an acquaintance.

The driver told police that he picked the wife up from her residence following a verbal argument between the couple. The driver stated that while they were in the car, Miller called his wife and began yelling. During this phone call, the driver alleged that Miller threatened to stab the employer.

Miller’s wife confirmed to troopers that she and Miller had a verbal argument at their residence because he wanted her to stay home to care for their child. She stated that while no physical altercation occurred that morning, Miller is currently on probation for a previous domestic violence case. She reportedly told police that if Miller threatened to stab someone, he would likely be carrying a knife.

Using the Life360 app on the wife’s phone, Troopers say they tracked Miller to the intersection of E. Plane and W. Biddle streets in Gordon.

Police say they found Miller sitting on a rock. As police approached, Miller walked toward a vehicle.

When asked if he was armed, Miller indicated he had a knife. Police say they recovered an American flag knife from his front right pant pocket.

During questioning, Miller denied making the threats against the Onvo boss, police say.

Onvo requested that Miller not be allowed on the property. Miller was taken to the Frackville barracks, where he was advised that he is barred from the Onvo travel plaza and would face additional charges if he returned.

Police say Miller was processed and released and his knife was entered into evidence.

Police have charged Miller with misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats and possession of a weapon. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel is scheduled for April 16.
