A Schuylkill County man is facing felony charges after he allegedly choked a woman until she lost consciousness and pushed her down a flight of stairs.
Isaiah Marchorro, 20, of Frackville, is charged with a felony count of strangulation, a misdemeanor count of simple assault, and a summary count of harassment.
Police in Frackville say they received a report of a domestic assault at about 7 p.m. on Sunday. A coworker of the victim contacted authorities, stating she had been told the victim was choked unconscious and thrown down stairs at a residence shared with Marchorro earlier that day, around 5 p.m.
Police contacted the victim, who confirmed the allegations. The affidavit states the victim told officers Marchorro placed both hands around her neck and choked her until she lost consciousness.
The victim also told police Marchorro pushed her down a flight of stairs, causing her head to strike the wall and the stairs. She reported pain in her head and believed she may have suffered a concussion. Police say the victim rejected getting medical care for those reported injuries.
The victim also reportedly said abrasions on her elbows and knees were caused by Marchorro pushing and dragging her throughout the house.
Officers interviewed the victim at her workplace to document her injuries. Police say they observed a contusion and swelling on the rear left side of the victim’s head, red marks on her neck and hands, and abrasions on both elbows and knees that caused light bleeding.
Marchorro was arraigned on Sunday night before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, who set bail at $25,000. Bond was posted the next day, according to court records, and Marchorro was released from Schuylkill County Prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28.
