Schuylkill County Man Charged with Failing to Register as Part of Megan’s Law Requirements

Green allegedly failed to notify police of his moving

A Schuylkill County man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly failed to notify State Police of an address change, part of a requirement for being on the Megan’s Law registry.

Police in Pottsville say they received a notification from State Police on Dec. 22 that Victor Green, 33, of Pottsville, had potentially violated the requirements of Megan’s Law.

That notification indicated that Green was supposed to be living at an apartment at 919 W. Market St. but it was rumored he’d moved to the East Side without notifying State Police. Green was required to notify State Police if he moved within three days of that change.

Police in Pottsville say an incident at that apartment building on July 20 gave them an inkling that Green no longer lived there. Green was contacted by police in Pottsville that day and he allegedly told them he’d been evicted.

On Dec. 29, police contacted the current residents of Green’s former apartment, who had been living there for several months at that point, and they reportedly said that he no longer lived there and that he’d never lived with them.

Police say they’d also had recent contact with Green at 705 E. Norwegian St in the city. At that time, Green allegedly told police that he was living at that address. Further, police say that PennDOT records indicate Green had been living at an address in the 200 block of N. George St. in Pottsville. That was the last address that State Police had on file for him.

Green has been charged with a felony count of failing to register with State Police. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on Jan. 4 and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Green was convicted on custody interference, which landed him on the Megan’s Law registry, according to online records.
