The wicked weather advisories continue to pile up for us here in the coal region.
National Weather Service has just issued a Wind Advisory for Schuylkill County.
The Wind Advisory goes into effect at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, and expires at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Sustained winds out of the west should clock in at 15-25 mph. However, gusts could reach 55 mph.
Those strong winds could bring down trees and power lines, leading to power outages. Of course, any unsecured objects outside could get picked up in those gusts, too.
A strong cold front is expected to enter the area on Monday, when temperatures will plummet from a high near 50 degrees early in the day to near freezing the rest of the afternoon.
The low temp on Monday night is forecast to be 23 degrees. And the cold weather appears to be sticking around through the New Year holidays.
A bit of good news though … There’s currently no precipitation of any kind in the forecast after early Monday morning.
