A Schuylkill County woman who drove to the State Police barracks to report being followed is now facing DUI charges after she allegedly began speaking incoherently about religious figures.
Kiersten Ingram, 28, of Schuylkill Haven, was charged earlier this month following the incident at the Schuylkill Haven barracks on July 7.
According to court records, Ingram reportedly contacted the station around 9 p.m. to report that she was being followed. She then drove her vehicle to the barracks to file a report in person.
Police observed Ingram arrive on security cameras and sit in her vehicle for a period of time. When troopers went out to the parking lot to speak with her, they say Ingram “began speaking about religious figures” and made other incoherent remarks.
After Ingram eventually entered the lobby, police allegedly detected an odor of marijuana. Police said she became uncooperative and stated she “needs to go home and sober up.”
Investigators allege Ingram attempted to leave the barracks to drive home, but police say they intervened. While standing near her vehicle, police detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
When asked if she was sober, police allege Ingram replied, “No. I smoked the Delta.” She reportedly told officers she had smoked a “pre-roll” around 4 p.m. and told them, “I can come back rested and sober if you guys prefer.”
Ingram consented to a search of her vehicle. Police allegedly discovered a multicolor aluminum box containing a glass smoking device, a grinder with suspected marijuana, and other paraphernalia.
Following field sobriety tests, Ingram was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville for a blood draw.
Toxicology results received by police on July 11 indicated Ingram’s blood contained amphetamines (25 ng/mL) and Delta-9-THC (10.5 ng/mL).
Ingram has been charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI, possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
