A Schuylkill County man has been jailed and charged with felony aggravated assault following an alleged incident earlier this month.
State Police say they were dispatched to a home on Mifflin St. in Pine Grove at about 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 19 for a reported domestic assault.
At the scene, police say they heard from the victim of the alleged incident who reportedly said that Michael Harley, 45, of Pine Grove, pinner her to a bed and punched her repeatedly in the face following an argument.
The victim reportedly told police that Harley had been consuming alcohol heavily throughout the night and into the early morning hours. Police say they learned that a verbal argument began between the two when the victim got up to use the bathroom.
As the victim was then laying in bed, she reportedly told Harley to “shut the (bleep) up” and that’s when he approached her and began punching her in the face.
Police note in their affidavit that Harley is 6-4 and weighs approximately 270 pounds, describing him as “twice the size” of the victim.
The victim reportedly fought back, broke free from Harley’s hold, and exited the residence to call 911.
Police say the victim displayed signs of injuries consistent with Harley’s actions against her.
Harley was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek (Tremont) later that morning and charged with a felony count of aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, unlawful restraint, and simple assault, along with a summary count of harassment.
Kosciolek set Harley’s bail at $75,000 and remanded him to Schuylkill County Prison. Court records show Harley remains behind bars. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2026.
