Just before the Christmas holiday, members of the Mahanoy City Elks Lodge 695 delivered comfort items to veterans.
The $1,800 in comfort items were taken the Lebanon VA on Dec. 18. The items were purchased with money from a Gratitude Grant made available by the Elks National Foundation.
Items were ordered, packed, and dropped of at the VA, where they were then separated and distributed.
Mahanoy City Elks reports that, in 2025, it received $11,500 in grant funding from the Elks National Foundation. This was done by the organization reaching its membership goals in donations and applying for the funds.
The grant money was used to meet the needs of today’s veterans, support charitable work, and fund other projects that aim to improve the quality of life in local communities, the organization says.
