On Monday, the last of five suspects in a Mechanicsville burglary earlier this month was arraigned on charges against him.
Keith King Jr., 21, of Pottsville, came before Magisterial District Judge Edward Lewis in Port Carbon to face felony charges of burglar and criminal trespass as well as misdemeanor theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief offenses.
Lewis set bail at $25,000 unsecured for King.
King was the fifth suspect to be arraigned for his suspected role in a Dec. 6 burglary incident on Anderson St. in Mechanicsville, just outside Pottsville.
Along with Ali Brown-Bailey, 23, of Aliquippa, Samuel Whitman-Frazier, 19, of Philadelphia, Robert Quinn IV, 22, of Palo Alto, and David Anderson, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, police say the five illegally entered an apartment just outside the city limits on Dec. 6.
Once inside, the five are accused of stealing $250 cash from a wallet along with a pair of Meta smart glasses. Two televisions were also broken during the home ransacking, police say.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows the quintet moving in and out of the apartment for about 25 minutes.
At 4:23 p.m., Brown-Bailey was allegedly recorded entering the apartment through an unlocked front door.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., a dark blue Lexus LS with a Maryland registration parked in the driveway. Police say that three males exited the vehicle, met with Brown-Bailey at the front of the residence, and entered the apartment.
Two minutes later, at 4:47 p.m., King allegedly exited the vehicle, met Brown-Bailey at the entrance, “dabs [sic] him up,” and entered the residence.
The victim of the suspected burglary told police she recognized two of the individuals in the video: she identified King as her “best friend’s nephew” and Brown-Bailey as an acquaintance named “Ali” who had been brought to the apartment once before.
Of the five arrested and charged for their roles in the burglary, only Brown-Bailey did not receive $25,000 unsecured bail.
Brown-Bailey was apprehended near his hometown in Aliquippa and brought back to Schuylkill County to face the charges. Prior to his arrival, he was arraigned via video conference by Judge Edward Tarantelli in Frackville.
Tarantelli told Brown-Bailey that although this allegedly was his first run-in with the law, “You jumped in with both feet.”
And because he fled the area, Tarantelli set bail at 10% of $15,000 and remanded him to Schuylkill County Prison. Brown-Bailey posted bond after spending about three days in jail.
All five defendants are due back before Lewis in Port Carbon on Feb. 10 for a preliminary hearing. They’re all facing the same set of charges.
