A Schuylkill County man reportedly jumped out of a window and fled from police on foot after they tried arresting him for violating a Protection from Abuse order.
State Police say they were dispatched to a Branch Township home on the afternoon of Dec. 12 and met with the victim of the alleged PFA violation.
The victim reportedly showed police messages she’d received from James Reed III, 40, of Pottsville. Those messages reportedly violated the PFA the victim had against Reed.
Police say they then responded to a location in Minersville where they attempted to make contact with Reed. Upon doing so, police say Reed jumped out of a window and dashed from the scene on foot, evading two State Troopers.
Reed allegedly turned right onto Westwood St. and when he approached Berger St., he reportedly stopped running and put his hands in the air to surrender. He reportedly told police that he was contacting the victim due to a business they have together.
Police have charged Reed with evading and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. A preliminary hearing on those charges is scheduled for Feb. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek (Tremont).
