A Schuylkill County man was jailed Monday morning, accused of assaulting a woman with broken glass and stealing her vehicle following a domestic dispute over the weekend.
Ryan Miller, 36, of South Manheim Township, is charged in connection with an incident at a residence in Lake Wynonah.
Police say they were dispatched to the home shortly before 7 p.m. on Dec. 19 regarding a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police found Miller had already fled the scene, allegedly in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim reportedly told police the incident began as a verbal argument regarding the trash. The dispute escalated physically when Miller allegedly followed the victim into a bathroom while screaming at her. Miller allegedly punched the bathroom door, causing damage.
He then followed the victim into the kitchen, pushed her against a refrigerator, and pulled her by the collar of her shirt, the victim told police.
During the altercation, Miller allegedly pounded his hand on a kitchen counter, causing a glass lid to fall to the floor and break.
The victim says Miller picked up the broken lid, which had “sharp and jagged edges,” and threw it at her, almost striking her.
Miller then reportedly made several threats during the incident, including telling the victim, “I’ll knock your teeth down your throat” and “You are never going to leave here.”
The victim told police that this behavior caused her immense fear. She further reported that two nights prior, during a different argument, Miller allegedly picked up a pair of scissors and threatened to “gouge” her in the neck.
Following the most recent alleged incident, Miller reportedly exited the residence. Miller allegedly punched the windshield of the victim’s one vehicle, causing it to shatter.
Miller then allegedly told the victim he was taking her other vehicle. He then fled the scene prior to police arrival at the scene.
Police eventually did apprehend Miller and on Monday morning, he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer.
He’s being charged with felony theft and misdemeanor counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, making terroristic threats, simple assault, and criminal mischief. Miller is also facing a summary harassment offense.
Bayer set bail at 10% of $5,000 and Miller was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
