Schuylkill County Men Facing Domestic Assault Charges

Incidents reported this month

Police across Schuylkill County have filed domestic assault charges against several men following alleged incidents earlier this month.

Here is a recap of those incidents and the charges filed:

West Brunswick Man Faces Charges Following Alleged Incident on Dec. 10

A West Brunswick Township man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute earlier this month.

Blake Kurten, 31, was charged by State Police following an investigation at a residence on Village Road.

According to court records, police were dispatched to the home at approximately 10 a.m. for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police interviewed the female victim of the alleged incident.

The woman told police that a verbal altercation between her and Kurten turned physical. She alleged that Kurten shoved her to the ground and got on top of her.

The affidavit states that while Kurten was on top of the woman, he “grabbed a hand full of her hair and forcefully pulled it out of her head.”

Police say the woman showed injuries consistent with her claims against Kurten.

Kurten has been charged with simple assault and harassment. He has not been arraigned on the charges at District Court.

Shenandoah Man Jailed on Domestic Assault Charges

Police in Shenandoah say they were called to a home in the borough on Dec. 16 for a reported domestic dispute.

Upon speaking with the female victim of the alleged incident, police say they believe Emil Mordan-Sosa, 22, struck her in the face, pushed her to the floor and pulled her by her hair.

Mordan-Sosa was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and charged with two counts of simple assault and a single count of harassment.

Kilker set bail at $10,000 and Mordan-Sosa was jailed at Schuylkill County Prison. Bond was posted the following day. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2026.
