UPDATED 8:30 AM: More than 1,200 homes and businesses across Schuylkill County have lost electric service, PPL Electric is reporting.
Most of the 1,241 outages have happened in Tremont, where 900 customers are without power. That’s 79% of all customers in the borough.
PPL expects power to be restored by 1 p.m. Friday, according to the latest update from the company.
Widespread outages have also occurred in Rush Township, where 219 customers are without power Friday morning.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible through tonight in Schuylkill County, according to National Weather Service. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday.
More power outages are possible throughout the day due to the strong winds.

Eleven outages reported by the utility have not pinpointed to one specific municipality.
