Holden Endorses Wallace in Congressional Run

Former US Rep. Tim Holden has thrown his support behind Pottsville native Rachel Wallace in her bid for the House of Representatives.

Wallace is a Democrat running in a three-way Primary race in 2026 for the chance to face likely nominee, incumbent Republican Rep. Dan Meuser, for the seat representing Pennsylvania’s 9th District in Congress, which includes Schuylkill County.

The Primary election will be held May 19, 2026, in Pennsylvania. The General Election is Nov. 3.

Wallace is facing Jenn Brothers and Daniel Byron, who have also announced their candidacy for the Democrat challenger’s position in next year’s election.

Holden appeared with Wallace in a YouTube video published Friday’s by her campaign. The former Congressman and Saint Clair native who represented Schuylkill County for 20 years in the House of Representatives said he “enthusiastically” endorsed Wallace.

“We need somebody who’s going to go to Washington, stay away from the petty party bickering, and work to bring home money to fund projects that are needed. Infrastructure, our healthcare systems, they all need help but you don’t accomplish that when you’re fighting with the other side all the time,” Holden says in the video.

In a statement, Wallace says, “Congressman Holden has been a mentor and an inspiration to me throughout my career. I travel all across this part of the state, and people remember how much Congressman Holden did for us. I am honored to have his endorsement and look forward to carrying on the tradition of fighting for local solutions to the challenges facing our community, whether it’s lowering costs or bringing home federal taxpayer dollars to get things done here at home.”

Holden represented Schuylkill County in the House of Representatives from 1993-2013, until 2003 when the county was part of the 6th District and until 2013 when it was part of the 17th.

Upon his exit from Congress, Holden served as a board member of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board from 2013-2024, including since 2015 as Chairman.

Meuser has represented Schuylkill County in Pennsylvania’s 9th District since 2019.
