Schuylkill County Man Accused of Stealing Sex Swing and Drive Shaft Now Charged in Another Theft

Thefts allegedly happened a day apart

The Schuylkill County man accused of stealing a sex swing and aluminum drive shaft during a single heist recently is now accused of another theft in which he allegedly drove through a field on private property to procure the items.

A day after Donald McLaughlin, 53, of Tamaqua, allegedly went to Adult Shop 61 and took the indoor recreation apparatus and vehicle part from a neighboring business, a man reported to State Police that he observed the same person driving onto his property, stealing several items worth more than $1,000.

The victim of this alleged second theft reportedly told police that on Oct. 25, he observed a man – later identified as McLaughlin – driving a black Ford pickup truck through a field and around a gate on his marked private property in West Brunswick Township.

McLaughlin allegedly then grabbed six wheels and tires, some scrap steel and a red gas can before leaving the property.

The victim said he then followed McLaughlin to a nearby scrapyard and watched him sell the items for scrap.

A warrant for McLaughlin’s arrest has been issued and he’s now facing additional charges of felony theft of secondary metal as well as misdemeanor counts of theft, receiving stolen property, and defiant trespass, as well as a summary offense for criminal trespass.

A preliminary hearing on the theft charges related to the incident involving the sex swing is scheduled for District Court in Orwigsburg in February.
