Meuser Bars Media from Constituent Forum in Pottsville Today

Challenger hosting counter forum at the same time, press is invited

US Rep. Dan Meuser (PA-9) is hosting a Constituent Forum this morning in Pottsville.

On Thursday, Meuser posted RSVP links to register for the event and only then would someone learn where it would be held.

The event was originally supposed to be invite-only and those attending were to find out where it would be just 24 hours before it starts this morning at 11:30.

On Tuesday, select invitees were sent an RSVP link with no indication where the event would be held. Only when a person registered to say they were interested in attending could they learn the event’s location.

However, the forum is now somewhat public but registration is required.

Despite the change, there is one segment of the population that won’t be on the guest list because they were specifically not invited: the press.

According to Courtney Trigg, Meuser’s operations director, the media will not be permitted to attend the Congressman’s forum today in Pottsville.

Trigg did offer The Canary an opportunity to schedule an interview with Meuser before or after today’s event.

Meuser Challenger Hosting Forum of Her Own

At the same time today, one of Meuser’s Democrat challengers in the 2026 Election, Rachel Wallace, of Schuylkill County, will be hosting a counter forum.

Wallace says her forum – to be held at Roma Pizza’s Oak Room on W. Market St. in Pottsville – was organized in response to Meuser’s event when it was limited to invite-only guests.

The Democrat challenger also noted that the media was prohibited from attending Meuser’s event.

“If you want to represent people in Congress, it helps to actually talk to them,” Wallace says in a statement. “If Dan Meuser doesn’t want to hear from his constituents, then I’m happy to. I welcome Republicans, Democrats, and Independents to come and share their concerns.”
