Schuylkill County Man Charged After His Dog Allegedly Bit Another Dog

A Schuylkill County man has been charged after his dog allegedly bit another dog recently.

State Police say they were called to Mountain Shadow Veterinary Clinic in Wayne Township back on Oct. 23 for a reported dog bite incident.

There, police spoke with the bitten dog’s owner who said she was walking her German Short-haired Pointer, Odin, near Coal St. in Port Carbon at about 12:30 p.m.

During the walk, Odin and its owner encountered a black-and-white Akita that was not on a leash and its owner was nowhere in sight.

The Akita allegedly bit Odin, causing injuries that resulted in $726.01 in medical bills.

Odin’s owner reportedly told police that she knows of a black-and-white Akita in her neighborhood. Police spoke with the owner of that dog, Gerald Allison, 40, who reportedly said that his dog had been in his yard the whole day.

However, police say Allison failed to provide any proof that his dog was in the yard at the time Odin was bitten and he also did not know of any other black-and-white Akita in that area.

After seeing a photo of Allison’s dog, Odin’s owner said she believed that it was the one who bit her dog.

Police have charged Allison with a misdemeanor offense for failing to keep his dog on his premises.
