A Schuylkill County man was jailed last week on a felony strangulation charge following an alleged domestic assault.
Police in West Penn Township say they were called to a home on Cold Spring Rd. at about 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 22. At that residence, they spoke with the victim of this alleged incident who said Jakye Rodgers, 23, of Andreas, began accusing her of infidelity and put her in a choke hold and dug his fingernails into her neck.
The victim had visible injuries, including finger marks and swelling on her neck.
While speaking with Rodgers, police say he claimed that he went through the victim’s phone and an argument ensued. He said he placed his arm around the victim’s neck to control her because she was shoving and kicking him.
Rodgers was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and charged with felony strangulation along with a misdemeanor count of simple assault.
Tarantelli set bail at 10% of $25,000 and remanded Rodgers to Schuylkill County Prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday before Judge AJ Serina.
