A New York woman has been charged with smuggling a prescription drug to an inmate at a federal prison in Schuylkill County.
According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, a federal grand jury has returned indictments against Primativa Soto-Martinez, 35, of New York, and Forrest Gilmore, 30.
Soto-Martinez has been charged with providing contraband to an inmate for allegedly smuggling buprenorphine to inmate Gilmore, who has been charged with possession of contraband.
Buprenorphine is a Schedule III controlled substance, a synthetic opioid used to treat opioid disorder and moderate to severe pain.
If convicted, the maximum penalty for these offenses is five years in prison.
