A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Schuylkill County man accused of burglary and theft earlier this year.
Last week, State Police filed charges against Jason Lentz, 30, of Hegins.
On Aug. 3, Troopers were called to the scene of a suspected burglary that occured earlier that week in Barry Towsnhip.
Police say they spoke with the victim of the burglary who said he’s the primary caretaker of the property in question since the owner doesn’t live in the area. The home is currently vacant and there’d been recent break-ins there.
The victim reportedly told police that he’d been to the property earlier that day and noticed that a door on a detached garage was open. He said he found a front license plate and tire tracks through a cornfield behind the garage.
Familiar with the license plate found and knowing the owner, the victim told police that owner loaned the vehicle to which it was attached to Lentz. He said he contacted Lentz about what was suspected of happening and he was allegedly forthcoming.
Police say they tracked Lentz to a home in Tremont and spoke with his girlfriend, who called Lentz on his phone and told him to come home.
Lentz allegedly admitted to entering the garage at the property in Barry Township and said that he took welding leads and copper wire from inside. Police say the value of those items is about $400.
He is now facing felony charges of burglary and criminal trespass as well as misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.
