Wanted Schuylkill County Man Walked Right By Police with Suspected Meth and Pipes in Pocket

Minrod picked up on active warrant for evading arrest

A wanted Schuylkill County man was picked up on an active warrant earlier this week. Police say at the time of his arrest, he had methamphetamine and devices with which to smoke it in his pockets.

Police in Blythe Township say they were on routine patrol at the Post Office parking lot in New Philadelphia at about 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 18. At that time, two individuals – a man and woman – walked by the patrol vehicle toward Valley Street Deli.

The man was recognized by police as 32-year-old Joshua Minrod, of New Ringgold. Police say they were aware that Minrod had an active warrant for his arrest.

When asked if Minrod was who police suspected he was, he confirmed his identity and was taken into custody.

During a search, police say they found two baggies containing a white, powder-like substance, a purple tube with burnt residue inside, a rolled piece of aluminum foil shaped like a pipe that also contained burnt residue, and two glass containers that contained a white, powder-like residue.

Minrod was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on the active warrant. A bench warrant, according to court records, was OK’d by President Judge Jacqueline Russell on Oct. 13 on charges of evading arrest, flight to avoid apprehension, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He’s now facing an additional charge of possessing drug paraphernalia.
