Man Accused of Rubbing Woman’s Butt, Following Her Around Schuylkill County Walmart

David Alvarez allegedly told woman she had a spider on her.

A man has been charged with indecent assault for allegedly rubbing a woman’s butt and following her around a Schuylkill County Walmart.

State Police say they were called to the Walmart store in Rush Township shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 26. A woman told police that David Alvarez, 39, of Ono, Lebanon County, had rubbed her butt without her consent and then followed her around the store.

As police arrived on the scene, they made contact with Alvarez and the woman.

Alvarez reportedly told police that while he was shopping, he saw the woman and thought he worked with her at Amazon. While talking with the woman, Alvarez said he saw a spider on her and removed it with his hand.

The woman who called police told a different story. She said Alvarez walked by her in the store and told her that she had a spider on her. He reportedly asked if he could help get the spider off her and then used his hand to “rub her butt,” according to a police affidavit.

At first, the woman told police that she was OK with Alvarez removing the spider from her butt but then she realized she didn’t see said spider on the floor and then Alvarez rubbed her butt a second time.

The woman told police that she became uncomfortable and began to panic. She said she left the aisle in which she and Alvarez were in but he kept following her around the store. This went on for about 25 minutes until she could inform store security about it.

Alvarez approached the woman again, she said, and this time introduced himself as David and asked for her phone number.

Police have charged Alvarez with indecent assault and harassment. He’s due in District Court before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer on Dec. 16.
