Schuylkill County Man with Dog Allegedly Ripped License Plate Off His Car After Stealing Fan, Cat Treats, Cherries, and Pastry

A Schuylkill County man is facing a felony theft charges after an incident at the Saint Clair Walmart earlier this year.

Police say they were contacted by Walmart late last month regarding an incident that allegedly occurred back in early June.

On June 4, Walmart employees say that they observed Herbert Imbimbo Jr., 65, of Pottsville in the store with a dog in a riding cart. Imbimbo also had a Walmart bag with him at the time.

Upon entering the store, Imbimbo first heads to the produce section and selects some cherries and a pastry. He then heads to the dairy section and puts a case of water in his cart.

Imbimbo then goes to the pet department and grabs cat treats and cat litter before heading to the electronics department, where he puts a DVD in his Walmart bag.

Asset protection employees then began observing Imbimbo and watch him go to the fan aisle, where he places a large fan in his cart.

Imbimbo then makes his way to the store entrance, looks around, and then heads outside without paying for the merchandise.

This trip took approximately 17 minutes, according to court documents.

Employees tell police they confronted Imbimbo about what he’s alleged to have done and he begins cursing at them to leave him alone.

Imbimbo then gets to his vehicle and allegedly rips off the license plate and then speeds out of the parking lot.

Police have charged Imbimbo with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property. A preliminary hearing on these charges has been scheduled for District Court in Port Carbon on Dec. 9.

Imbimbo, according to court records, is currently serving a 5-year probation sentence in a retail theft case out of Union Township in 2024 and has a retail theft case pending out of Berks County, too, from earlier this year.
