A Maryland man is accused of showing up at a Schuylkill County home reportedly looking for a party and when he learned he was at the wrong address, he refused to leave.
State Police say they were summoned to a home on River Rd. in East Brunswick Township on the afternoon of Sept. 28 for a report of a trespassing. The resident of that home said that a man – later identified as Mark Lutz, 46, of Lanham, Maryland – came on to her property twice and was sitting in his truck in her driveway, refusing to leave.
When police arrived on the scene, they say they spotted a white Ford F150 parked in the driveway. Inside the vehicle, police say they could clearly see a glass smoking pipe and a purple metal grinder in the center console. The keys to the truck were in the ignition and Lutz was in the driver’s seat.
Police say they questioned Lutz why he was at that location. They say Lutz’ answers were illogical and rambling. After first denying taking any medications for which he said he had a prescription, Lutz reportedly told police that he’d previously taken a Xanas to help him sleep.
Field sobriety tests were conducted and police say it was evident that Lutz was intoxicated in some way. He ultimately refused to submit to a blood test, police say.
Later, police say they spoke with the homeowner at the scene. She told police that shortly before 1 p.m. that day, Lutz arrived at her front gate, rang the buzzer, and said he was there for a party.
The homeowner said there was no party, that Lutz was at the wrong address, and that he had to leave. Lutz refused to leave, however, as 30 minutes later, he walked up the driveway and to the front door.
Once again, Lutz was told to leave. Lutz turned around and went back to his truck but just sat there for a half hour.
Lutz was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge AJ Serina and charged with DUI, possessing a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and defiant trespass.
Serina set bail at $10,000 and Lutz as sent to Schuylkill County Prison. Lutz posted bond and was released the following day.
While being processed at the prison, police say numerous suboxone packets were found by staff there during a search of Lutz’ belongings.
Police say they obtained a search warrant on Lutz’ truck, where they say they found more drugs, including ketamine, marijuana, and psilocybin mushrooms. An investigation into that discovery remains ongoing with new charges possible.
