Pottsville Rotary Honors October Students of the Month

Students from Pottsville, Minersville, Nativity BVM honored

The Pottsville Rotary Club recognized its October Students of the Month at the club’s weekly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at Vito’s Coal Fired Restaurant in St. Clair.

Congratulations to the following students:
Pottsville Area High School: Ava Orlowsky and Mya McGeoy
Minersville Area High School: Hope Motuk and Nolan Plesnarski
Nativity BVM High School: Ryan Grabowski and Trey Keating

POTTSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL

Ava Orlowsky
Ava Orlowsky, daughter of Robert and Deanna Orlowsky of Pottsville, is active in varsity tennis (captain), Alpha Iota Delta (vice president), Junior Advisory Board, marching band (treasurer and clarinet section leader), National Honor Society, and Quiz Bowl. She also volunteers with Big Impact and plays clarinet for her church worship team. After graduation, Ava plans to attend Penn State University (University Park) to earn a bachelor’s degree in pharmacology–toxicology and pursue a career as a toxicology researcher.

Mya McGeoy
Mya McGeoy, daughter of Tom and Renee McGeoy of Port Carbon, is involved in Alpha Iota Delta, Student Council, National Honor Society, and Spanish National Honor Society. She has volunteered at a hospital and plans to attend college to study medicine, with the goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist.

MINERSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL

Hope Motuk
Hope Motuk, daughter of Joel and Kathie Motuk of Cass Township, serves as National Honor Society treasurer and is involved in Aevidum Club, Spanish Club, Student Council (co-officer), Class of 2026 secretary, Youth Summit, and Junior Advisory Board. She is also a four-year member of the girls varsity soccer team. Outside of school, she assists with fundraisers at the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29. After graduation, Hope plans to continue her education, entering a six-year Doctor of Pharmacy program.

Nolan Plesnarski
Nolan Plesnarski, son of Ryan and Christina Plesnarski of Minersville, is a four-year class president and participates in National Honor Society, Youth Summit, Prom Committee, Peer Buddy, and Tutoring. A four-year letterman in boys varsity baseball, he was named to the 2025 Schuylkill League First Team Division 2. Nolan umpires at the Minersville Little League complex and is an altar server and Teen Group member at Holy Family Parish in Minersville. He plans to continue his education to become a physician assistant specializing in orthopedics.

NATIVITY BVM HIGH SCHOOL

Ryan Grabowski
Ryan Grabowski, son of Michael and Anne Grabowski, is a member of St. John the Baptist Parish. His activities include baseball (captain; two-time district champion; All-Area selection), golf (captain; league and district qualifier), basketball, soccer, Student Council (vice president), Interact Club, Math Club, Evangelization Team, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Student Ambassador, and AP Scholar (top 5% of class). Ryan plans to attend a four-year university to major in a mathematics-related field and to earn a commission in the U.S. Army through the ROTC program.

Trey Keating
Trey Keating, son of Suzanne and Frank Keating, is a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish. His activities include basketball (captain; league and district qualifier; first-team all-state; league MVP; 1,500-point scorer and counting; Division 2 champion; three-time league leading scorer), baseball (district champion), golf (captain; district and league qualifier), Student Council (president), National Honor Society, Interact Club, Math Club, Student Ambassador, and Science National Honor Society. Trey plans to attend a four-year university to major in a mathematics-related field and continue his basketball career.

The Pottsville Rotary Club congratulates these outstanding students for their leadership, scholarship, and service to school and community.
