Mrs. T’s Pierogies is celebrating National Pierogy Day with a playful challenge — and a hefty cash prize.
The Shenandoah-based company, the nation’s largest producer of frozen pierogies, is inviting fans to “add a Y” to their name — just like the brand does with “pierogy” — for a chance to win $10,000.
Starting Oct. 1, fans can visit Mrs. T’s Instagram page (@mrstspierogies) and comment on the official sweepstakes post, pledging to replace an “I” in their name with a “Y,” or simply add a “Y.” One lucky entrant will receive the $10,000 prize along with exclusive merchandise and the honorary title of “Most Valuable Pierogy-Lover.”
“National Pierogy Day is our favorite time of year to celebrate the joy pierogies bring to mealtime,” said Alyssa Panzarella, Mrs. T’s Director of Marketing. “This year, we’re inviting our Pierogy Squad to embrace the ‘Y’ just like we do — whether it’s by having fun with their name, telling us why they love pierogies, or sharing a one-of-a-kind pairing.”
Along with the grand prize, 30 fans will be randomly selected to receive a limited-edition “Pierogy Prize Pack,” featuring a cozy sweatshirt, surprise goodies, and temporary tattoos.
National Pierogy Day, observed each year on Oct. 8, marks the date in 1952 when company founder Ted Twardzik Sr. sold his first batch of pierogies to a Shenandoah grocery store — launching what became a national comfort food favorite.
Fans can join the celebration by posting how they’re marking National Pierogy Day with #NationalPierogyDay and tagging @mrstspierogies on social media.
Entries are open through Oct. 8 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Official rules and eligibility are available at www.mrstspierogies.com/npd
