Schuylkill County Man Confronts State Police By Throwing Pineapple, Grabbing a Whip

A Schuylkill County man was Tased several times by police and detained after he threw a pineapple at them and then grabbed a rope whip, which he refused to drop.

State Police at Frackville say they were called to a home on Mahanoy St. in North Union Township at about 9:48 a.m. on Sept. 25 for a dispute between neighbors. En route to this location, police say they were informed that one of the participants in this dispute, Alexander Moyer, 26, of Nuremberg, had an active warrant.

As they arrived at the scene, police say Moyer was yelling at Troopers and threw a pineapple in their direction. Police say they gave Moyer multiple commands to take a seat on his porch.

When police got within 10 feet of Moyer, they say he fled into his residence only to reappear, this time holding what was later identified as a rope whip.

Police say they tried multiple times to get Moyer to drop the whip and walk over to them. Moyer showed no interest in doing that, police say, and ignore multiple commands to sit down.

Once again, Moyer began fleeing into his residence and this time, police say one Trooper deployed his Taser. This caused Moyer to stumble and run into his home. Another Taser was deployed but had no effect on Moyer, police say.

Inside his home, Moyer was hit with another Taser shot, knocking him to the floor. He was told to put his hands behind his back but reportedly refused to do so. Police say they then delivered a drive stun on Moyer’s back and that allowed police to take him into custody.

At the scene, police say they spoke with Moyer’s neighbor who said she was inside her home when she heard Moyer outside yelling. She said this was an ongoing issue with Moyer.

Moyer had ripped a No Trespassing sign from her yard and was yelling that he was going to kill her, the neighbor said. After calling police, Moyer was yelling “(Bleep) you!” at his neighbor as he walked around her yard. The neighbor believed Moyer was on drugs at the time.

Moyer is being charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and harassment as a result of his alleged actions on the morning of the 25th.
