Schuylkill County Commissioners approved a three-year contract with Boyle Electro-Mechanical, Tamaqua, to provide snow plowing and snow hauling services for the next three winters.
Bids were sought from contractors to provide this service to Schuylkill County and the parking lots it owns.
Bids were due by Sept. 15 and opened on Sept. 17 at 9 a.m.
The Commissioners provided a breakdown of the two bids received, showing they chose the low bidder:
Equipment for Snow/Ice/Salting
- Dump Trucks with Snow Plow & Spreader
- Boyle: $210/hour (all three years)
- Schuylkill Paving: $250 (2025-26), $263 (2026-27), $276 (2027-28)
- Pick-Up Truck with Snow Plow
- Boyle: $210/hour (all three years)
- Schuylkill Paving: $250, rising to $263 and $276 in later years
- 4-Wheel Loader, 3.5 Cubic Yard Bucket
- Boyle: $250/hour (all three years)
- Schuylkill Paving: $275, $289, $303
For Hauling Snow
- Tri-Axle, 25 Cubic Yard Capacity
- Boyle: $165/hour (all three years)
- Schuylkill Paving: $200, $210, $221
- 5-Cubic Yard Bucket Loader (Heavy Snow Only)
- Boyle: $300/hour (all three years)
- Schuylkill Paving: $335, $352, $370
