The former Schuylkill County woman facing numerous animal cruelty and animal neglect charges found out Wednesday afternoon that she’s got another legal issue here.
Trisha Howard, 43, now of Shamokin, is accused of abandoning two dogs and eight cats at her Ashland apartment, leaving them in deplorable conditions. One of the dogs was in such poor condition that it had to be euthanized.
On Wednesday, Howard waived one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals, 20 misdemeanor counts of neglect of animals, 2 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty, and 8 summary counts of animal cruelty to Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
She appeared before District Magistrate Judge James Reiley, sitting in for Judge Edward Tarantelli at his court in Frackville.
On those charges, Howard remains free on bail.
At her court appearance on Wednesday, Howard also found out she has other pending legal troubles. Howard was informed that she has 17 active warrants for her arrest in Schuylkill County.
When she was told about these warrants, Howard indicated that she was aware of them and was making arrangements to pay on them to avoid getting arrested.
