A Pine Grove man engaged police in a lengthy standoff Sunday along Tulpehocken St. in the borough.
According to State Police, Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks arrived at 108 N. Tulpehocken St. in Pine Grove to conduct a follow-up investigation related to a recent criminal mischief.
As Troopers arrived on the scene, they say the suspect, Michael Mabry, quickly ran to a detached garage or shed on his property. Police say Mabry also had a domestic-related felony warrant for aggravated assault.

Multiple attempts to call Mabry out of the shed were unsuccessful. That resulted in the State Police Special Emergency Response Team being called to the scene.
After several hours, Mabry allegedly attempted to flee from the shed into his house. At about 12:30 p.m., two bangs were heard approximately five minutes apart. A few moments after the second bang, a volley of what sounded like shots were heard.

Mabry was detained on the porch of his home by members of the SERT.
He was taken by ambulance for assessment of injuries he sustained during his apprehension. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.

The incident closed Tulephocken St. from the red light in the borough to its intersection with Oak Grove Rd.
