The man who engaged State Police in an hours-long standoff in Pine Grove on Sunday is now in Schuylkill County Prison on an aggravated assault charge for a Sept. 13 incident at his home.
Michael Mabry, 55, of Pine Grove, was wanted for allegedly pushing a woman and then punching her in the forehead. Mabry’s victim lost consciousness during the altercation, police say.
The victim, who had fled Mabry’s home to a residence in Pine Grove Township, was transported a Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville for further evaluation. Police say she sustained a hematoma on her forehead and also complained of head, neck, and back pain following the alleged assault.
A warrant was issued for Mabry’s arrest following that incident.
On Sunday morning, State Police say they were following up on an investigation into a reported criminal mischief and came upon Mabry.
Police say Mabry refused to exit a shed on his Tulpehocken St. property in Pine Grove. Following several hours, the State Police SERT was activated and Mabry was eventually detained following the standoff. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of his injuries sustained in that incident.
In regard to the incident on Sept. 13, police have charged Mabry with a felony count of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor offense of simple assault, and a summary count of harassment.
Mabry was arraigned on charges from the incident on the 13th before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley following his capture on Sunday afternoon. Bail was set at $10,000 cash and Mabry was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
A preliminary hearing at District Court in Tremont has been scheduled for Oct. 2.
