Pottsville Man Jailed After Alleged Domestic Assault

Argument over gas money turns physical, victim tells police

A Pottsville man was jailed early Monday morning after he allegedly punched a woman several times during a domestic disturbance.

According to court documents, police in the city were called to a home on E. Norwegian St. at about 2:30 a.m. Monday. Police say when they arrived, they spoke with the victim of the alleged assault.

She reportedly told police that she asked Vickens (aka Veek) Stimphont, 31, for gas money but he refused to give it to her.

This led to an argument that carried outside. When they got outside, Stimphont allegedly punched the victim in the head before going back inside his home.

Police say the victim had two lacerations on her forehead and had dried blood on her face, neck, and chest when they spoke with her.

Members of Stimphont’s family were used to encourage the suspect to come outside. When he did, police took him into custody.

Stimphont was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and charged with simple assault and harassment. Bayer set bail at 10% of $5,000, which wasn’t posted and Stimphont was taken to Schuylkill County Prison where, according to court records, he remains as of Tuesday morning.
