A Schuylkill County woman was jailed after police say she threatened to kill a man while holding a pair of scissors during a domestic dispute last week in Saint Clair.
Police were dispatched to a home on E. Carroll St. shortly after 9 p.m. on Sept. 4. A downstairs neighbor had called 911 after hearing a disturbance and went upstairs to investigate.
The caller told police he saw Joeleen Eckert, 44, standing in front of the victim while holding scissors and heard her say, “I’m going to kill you.”
The victim confirmed the neighbor’s account, telling police the altercation had become physical. Officers noted injuries on the man’s chest, including fresh scratches and bleeding abrasions.
When interviewed, police say Eckert was sweating heavily. She initially admitted holding the scissors but claimed she only told the victim to “get away from me.” Later, she changed her account, saying she grabbed the scissors to prevent the victim from using them against her.
Police say they also learned Eckert was coming down from a drug-induced high at the time of the incident.
Eckert was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker later that night and charged with misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and simple assault along with a summary offense of harassment.
Kilker set bail at 10% of $25,000 and Eckert was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, where she remained as of this post being published.
A preliminary hearing before Judge David Plachko is scheduled for Sept. 16.

We’re just reporting what police are alleging in their charging documents. We don’t presume anything is fact. If it turns out that these charges aren’t true, we’ll definitely report on that.
