Jury Selection Set to Begin This Week in Schuylkill County Court

Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Wednesday this week in numerous criminal proceedings in Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.

Here is a rundown of some of the higher profile cases that are set to go to trial, unless the defendants reach a plea agreement with the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, followed by a full breakdown of the remainder of the cases.

John Riley, 45, Pottsville

Charges: Rape, rape of child (3 counts), involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child (2 counts), statutory sexual assault with a person 11 years or older (3 counts), IDSI with a person less than 16 (2 counts), aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 16

Riley is accused of raping and inappropriately touching a girl for several years, starting before she was 13 years old.

Riley has denied the accusations against him, saying he only had the child rub his legs and feet.

This trial was supposed to happen in June but was continued after Riley’s attorney fell ill on the day of opening statements.

Keron Shockley, 33, Pottsville

Charges: Attempted homicide, illegal gun possession, aggravated assault (2 counts), carrying an unlicensed firearm, possessing a weapon, reckless endangerment, simple assault, tampering with physical evidence, loitering, disorderly conduct

Shockley is accused of shooting a Pottsville man in the buttocks after they left the 7-11 store in the city at shortly after 1 a.m. on Jan. 13.

He fired at least eight shots in the direction of his target.

The man he shot testified at a preliminary hearing in this case that he, a friend, and Shockley were hanging out at a local bar earlier that night. But when they got to 7-11, Shockley started acting strangely and the victim and his friend said they were going away.

Gemini Lake, 52, Ashland

Charge: Impersonating a public servant

Lake – or “G Money” as he’s known to law enforcement – is accused of claiming to be an FBI agent when he visited a Advance Auto Parts store in Tamaqua earlier this year, demanding the store fix his vehicle’s battery.

Naszier Colburn, 29, Easton

Charges: Aggravated assault (3 counts), aggravated arson, strangulation, witness intimidation, terroristic threats, simple assault (2 counts), harassment (2 counts)

Colburn faces numerous charges, namely several counts of aggravated assault for his alleged actions against a Pottsville woman.

He is accused of setting a Pottsville woman’s foot on fire, assaulting her in front of her children, and choking her in May 2024.

Colburn also faces aggravated assault charges for previous incidents that occurred involving the same victim.

Evelyn Clausius, 73, Tamaqua

Charge: Accidents involving death

Clausius is accused of causing a May fatal motorcycle crash in Frackville after allegedly pulling her car into the path of a three-wheeled bike, striking it, and leaving the scene, an incident that killed passenger Beth Burlile.

Jury selection is also scheduled to begin on Wednesday in cases against these defendants:

Cindy Westwood, Pottsville: Simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct

Kevin Gieniec, Summit Hill: Possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving with suspended license, improper sunscreening, driving without insurance, vehicle registration suspended

Shannel Williams, Philadelphia: Possession of contraband, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance

Cliff Newton, Pottsville: Receiving stolen property, retail theft; Possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, retail theft, receiving stolen property, marijuana possession (small amount/personal use); Retail theft

Annie Morrisey, Shenandoah: Indecent exposure, resisting arrest, institutional vandalism, disorderly conduct, harassment, public drunkenness

Benjamin Rosario, Saint Clair: Conspiracy to commit robbery, Conspiracy to receive stolen property

Hunter Rohrbach, Frackville: Theft (2 counts), receiving stolen property (2 counts)

James Tolan, Pottsville: DUI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, no rear lights

Christopher Bagenstose, Minersville: Simple assault

Travis Reber, Pine Grove: Aggravated assault (2 counts), simple assault (2 counts), resisting arrest, harassment (2 counts), criminal mischief

Scott George, Frackville: Tampering with public records, forgery (2 counts), tampering records (2 counts)

Jean Dorica-Garcia, Mahanoy City: DUI/Highest rate, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct (2 counts)

Francis Delaney, Tremont: Terroristic threats (2 counts), simple assault, harassment, careless driving, following too closely, disregarding traffic lane, passing on right

Linette Mimes, Pottsville: Unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment

William Fessler, Orwigsburg: Strangulation, simple assault, harassment

Matthew Yulick, Schuylkill Haven: Criminal mischief

Jonathan Sheehan, Lebanon: Habitual offender, driving while license is suspended, disregarding traffic lane, safety restraint/child under 4, compliance with exhaust requirements

Thomas Dower Jr., Ashland: Driving with a suspended license, driving an unregistered vehicle, obscured plates

Joseph Disabella Jr., Sugarloaf: Indecent assault of a person less than 13, corruption of minors

Ralph Zukosky, Pottsville: Corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 16, harassment

Stephen Leibensperger, Pottsville: Criminal trespass, possessing an instrument of crime

Kimberly Maclachlin, Pottsville: Possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; Possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, operating a vehicle without valid inspection

Erick Thompson, Lebanon: Rape, sexual assault, indecent assault, contempt

Ricky Morris, Kingston: Conspiracy to commit retail theft; Retail theft, theft by deception

Joseph Scherr, Pottsville: Retail theft

Brian Keefer, Schuylkill Haven: Aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13, indecent assault of a person less than 13 (3 counts), corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children

Angel Andino, McAdoo: Burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, harassment

David Mohl, Pottsville: Possession with intent to deliver (2 counts), conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver (2 counts), possession of a controlled substance (2 counts)

Iain James, Pottsville: Simple assault (2 counts), conspiracy to commit simple assault, harassment (2 counts) disorderly conduct
