Brooklyn Man Wanted in Virginia Jailed After Traffic Stop in Schuylkill County

Broken taillight leads to capture of fugitive

A Brooklyn Man was jailed recently following a traffic stop in Schuylkill County revealed he was wanted on warrants out of Virginia.

Court documents show that police in West Penn Township pulled over a vehicle shortly before 11 p.m. on Aug. 16 due to a taillight being out.

Police were able to identify the driver as Jahmar Lewis, 29, of Brooklyn.

A check of Lewis’ record reportedly showed that he was wanted on several warrants out of Virginia.

Police say they confirmed with authorities in Chesterfield County, Virginia, that there were seven active warrants for Lewis’ arrest and they were willing to extradite him from Schuylkill County.

In 2016, Lewis committed burglary in Virginia and was sentenced to probation. In 2021, Lewis violated conditions of his probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. That’s when Lewis fled Virginia for Pennsylvania.

There were also warrants for Lewis’ arrest obstruction, providing false ID, identity theft, fleeing police, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.

On each offense, Lewis allegedly fled from authorities in Virginia and headed for Pennsylvania.
