New Jersey Man Found with Missing Teen Shoplifting at Boscov’s in Schuylkill County

Teen was missing from Bloomfield, NJ

Police say they’ve arrested a New Jersey man who was allegedly shoplifting with a missing juvenile girl at Boscov’s earlier this month.

According to court documents, Troopers from State Police-Schuylkill Haven were dispatched to the department store at Fairlane Village Mall at about 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 10 for a shoplifting incident.

The Boscov’s loss prevention employee told police that he had two people detained and didn’t believe they were being truthful about their identities. They had allegedly tried to steal more than $150 worth of clothing, belts, and lotions.

Police say they spoke with both suspects, who identified themselves as Yahir Martinez and Miran Ross. They reportedly said they were from New York City.

A search of those names returned nothing so police decided to identify them through other means at the Schuylkill Haven barracks.

En route to the barracks in separate vehicles, the female detained in the shoplifting incident reportedly told police her true identity and that she’s a runaway and being searched for by New Jersey State Police. Police say they confirmed that the juvenile was 17 years old and reported missing from Bloomfield, New Jersey.

She also reportedly told police that the guy she was with was not who he said he was but didn’t know how to pronounce his name. Police say they were able to identify him as Jair Sanchez-Ramos, 18, of Bloomfield.

Sanchez-Ramos eventually provided his US Passport as proof of his identity.

Sanchez-Ramos was arraigned on charges of retail theft, obstruction, providing false identification to law enforcement, and corruption of minors.

Magisterial District Judge AJ Serina set bail at $25,000 cash and Sanchez-Ramos was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, where he remains pending a preliminary hearing scheudled for Aug. 26.
