A Schuylkill County man was jailed this week after police say he attempted to fight a disabled child and threw their bicycle.
According to information released by police in Saint Clair, officers were called to a disturbance at Adm. Boone Park on S. Third St. on Tuesday.
As officers arrived on the scene and spoke to witnesses, it was determined that Kiyone Sherwood, 19, was attempting to fight a disabled child. Police say the child has mental and physical disabilities.
Witnesses reportedly told police that Sherwood threw the child’s bicycle during this incident, severely damaging it.
Several people also reportedly told police that they attempted to intervene in this incident and Sherwood then tried to fight them as well.
While taking Sherwood into custody, police say they found marijuana in Sherwood’s pocket.
Sherwood was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge AJ Serina on Tuesday evening and charged with misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief. He’s also facing two summary offenses for harassment.
Serina set bail at 10% of $2,500 and Sherwood was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison. Court records show that bail was posted on Wednesday. A preliminary hearing before Judge David Plachko has been scheduled for Aug. 19.
