Schuylkill County Man Facing Charges After Allegedly Giving Minor THC Gummy

Felony charge filed

A Schuylkill County man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly gave a minor a THC gummy.

According to court documents, State Police-Schuylkill Haven were dispatched to a Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville on May 9 for a report of a minor who had ingested a drug resulting in an incident of “self-harm.”

The minor victim reportedly told hospital staff they were given the drug by a relative.

Nearly a week later, police say they spoke with the victim and one of their parents. During the interview, the victim told police that they were offered half of a THC gummy by a relative, Seth Shive, 19, of Mechanicsville.

The victim reportedly rejected the gummy but that Shive lied and said it was a “new Sour Patch Kid flavor.”

After taking the gummy, the victim said they felt weird and later walked into a wall and injured their face, including a bone fracture.

Shive has been ordered to appear at a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko on Aug. 26. He’s facing a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver along with misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.
